Reconyx is a US based company in Wisconsin that specializes in high end cameras. They produce all of their cameras in the US which can be a big selling point for folks looking to keep dollars locally. They pride themselves on being the industry leader in reliability, performance and customer support of their game cameras. Reconyx started out in the trail camera business marketing toward professional level products and now offers lines for professionals, general outdoor use and security related products that all meet high quality standards. Because of this, their cameras also typically are on the higher end of the price range but if you are looking for a great camera that will last you a long time check these out. This section will focus on their outdoor cameras geared towards the hunter. Reconyx offers cameras in the following series of products: MicroFire, UltraFire and HyperFire
The Reconyx MicroFire MR5 is a Wi-Fi enabled image transfer camera with a unique cylindrical body design that has the goal of shrinking the profile of the camera so it is even harder to detect for the game you are pursing. This camera is 2 inches in diameter by 5 inches in length making it one of the most compact cameras on the market. The mounting bracket allows for easy adjustments in the field during setup without loosening straps or finding a flat spot on the tree. The camera has a lightning fast 0.2 sec trigger speed; has no glow flash technology so you are invisible to game, allows remote setup and image transfer with a Wi-Fi connection and utilizes 720p HD video/sound if you are looking to capture videos. Additionally, the camera comes with a 5 year warranty which is a great way you can ensure the longevity of your camera.
XR6 UltraFire Covert Camera
This Reconyx UltraFire XR6 includes a built in 2.4 inch TFT color display to preview images/videos or test your camera setup to ensure you are targeting the right height. The camera has 8 MP image quality, 1 second trigger speed and offers 1080 HD quality for video including digital audio to help reduce wind noise. The camera uses an infrared flash that will capture game up to 80 feet. The camera comes with a 2 year warranty and includes software for Windows to help manage your pictures.
WR6 UltraFire White Flash Camera
The Reconyx UltraFire WR6 offers the same features as the XR6 with the one big difference. The WR6 contains a white flash technology so you can capture clear color images at night up to 60 feet away. This means you have a flash being set off to obtain those pics during the night which some hunters don’t particularly like but this also means you have color pics day or night. In the end it ends up being more of a preference than anything. The camera also offers the 2.4 inch TFT color screen just like the XR6.
HC600 HyperFire Covert Camera
The Reconyx HyperFire HC600 has no glow infrared technology which eliminates the red glow that you see with some other brands infrared cameras. It features a super quick 0.2 sec trigger speed, has a flash range of 60 feet and runs on 12 AA batteries which give it a one year battery life so you are not swapping out batteries on a regular basis. The camera takes 1080P High Def or 3.1 MP images and has a great option to take up to 10 images per camera trigger so you don’t miss any of the action.
HC500 HyperFire Semi-Covert Camera
Same great features as the HC600 but this camera is a little less of a dent in the pocket book as it has Lo Glow technology which emits a nighttime flash that can range out to 50ft instead of the covert no glow technology. The Reconyx HyperFire HC500 camera also has the option to run on 6 or 12 AA batteries so depending on frequency of checking the camera you can bump it up to the 12 AAs and get a full year of battery life. 1 year warranty included on the camera.
HC550 HyperFire White Flash Camera
Similar to the HC500 this camera has the same 1080P Hi Def or 3.1 MP image quality, 0.2 sec trigger speed but the Reconyx HyperFire HC550 takes color pictures day or night with its White Flash LED technology that can range out to 30ft for color images at night. This camera runs on 12 AA batteries so you can get a full year or 40,000 pictures out of the battery life before swapping out. All three of the HyperFire models offer a 1 year warranty for some piece of mind if you run into issues.
